In addition to providing visitor information to travelers, the Buffalo City Tourism Foundation and its volunteer board promote tourism to Jamestown through radio and print advertising in the US and Canada, and through the financial support of local tourism attractions and events.
The BCTF board gives grants to qualified applicants for the upkeep, advertising, and administration of tourism attractions as well as events, festivals, exhibits, programs and other activies designed to bring tourists into the Jamestown and Stutsman County areas. Eligible Activities
- Capital Costs associated with the acquisition , restoration, or enhancement of existing historic buildings, structures or sites. Projects could include the installation or upgrade of basic infrastruture such as kitchens, bathrooms, lighting, paving or landscaping, if these projects can be shown to enhance tourism experiences and opportunities.
- Festivals, performances or other special events that will attract tourismts from outside Jamestown.
- 30% of funds granted for this type of activity must be dedicated to advertising. Grant recipients are strongly encouraged to target advertising at least 50 miles outside of Jamestown to draw tourists to the area.
- Special consideration will be given to festivals, performances and other special events scheduled November through March.
- Unique exhibits and/or education programs at museums, historical locations and attractions that would be of interest to tourists. The sponsoring organization must demonstrate that the program and marketing plan are designed to reach outside the county, as well as a local constituency.

- The development and implementation of a feasibility study designed to increase tourism or memebership to a site, an evet or series of events.
- The development of materials (printed, radio, tv, or web-based) which aid visitors to better understand, appreciate or interpret their Jamestown area experience. This excludes program books, and information to be distributed during the event, once it is taking place.
- The employment of seasonal/part-time staff for the prupose of hospitality and outstanding customer service at venues in Jamestown and the county.
